Oliver's Castle is a mistaken identity born from Oliver Cromwell and the Battle of Roundway Down in 1643. The error renamed Roundway Downs, turning a geographic feature into a castle that never existed. History sometimes builds phantom structures from confused memory, inviting people to wander places invented by a single wrong name.
Oliver Cromwell is mistakenly thought to have fought at the Battle of Roundway Down in 1643, hence the alternative name for the Roundway Downs, 'Olivers Castle'.
