What is recorded here

The National Heritage List for England records Battle of Roundway Down 1643 as a registered battlefield. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Roundway Down in Wiltshire saw a significant engagement in 1643 during the English Civil War between Royalist forces under Prince Rupert and Parliamentarian troops. The Royalists won a decisive victory, which strengthened their control over southwest England but highlighted the vulnerability of their supply lines.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
