Brandon Point holds a vanished ogham stone on its Literagh side, recorded by Windele and Hitchcock but never closely examined because it sat on the extreme verge of a cliff. A landslide in the winter of 1849 may have hidden it or torn it into the sea, leaving behind only the memory of marks cut for someone who believed the cliff edge was a fitting boundary between the living world and the deep water.

An ogham stone was recorded on the Literagh side of Brandon Point by both Windele (quoted in Brash 1879, 196 and 226 and Macalister 1945, 167) and Hitchcock (quoted in Macalister 1945, 167). Neither was able to examine it closely due to its inaccessible position on the extreme verge of a cliff. In 2 separate entries Brash mentioned a landslide in the winter of 1849. It is unclear whether both references are to the landslide that rendered the stone inaccessible or whether, as Macalister understood, there was a 2nd landslide causing the stone to fall into the sea.
