Noel Purcell

Noel Purcell was born Joseph Patrick Noel Purcell on 23 December 1900 at 11a Lower Mercier Street, Dublin. He became a famous character actor in Ireland, Britain and Hollywood, appearing in films such as Moby Dick (1956) and Mutiny on the Bounty (1962). He began acting as a child in Dublin, worked in pantomimes and theatre, and kept returning home because Ireland remained his life.
