What is recorded here

An unseen hand carved the cave in Ballygill North before human memory began. It is not a building, not a shrine and not a gift from any god. The cave is a wound the earth opened and forgot. People may have entered it, feared it or buried what they loved there, but no human tool shaped its chamber. The rock did not ask permission. It broke its own skin and left a hole where darkness could breathe.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as Natural cave. Recorded period: C18TH/C19TH. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
