Myross Church (in Ruins)

Rectangular late-medieval church (int. 14.16m E-W; int. 6.73m N-S) in N half of graveyard (CO151-024001-). West gable (missing its point) and W end of N and S walls in poor repair but E gable retains pointed top. Central E window has segmented arch over splayed embrasure with single ogee-headed light; lintelled window embrasure near E end of S wall missing light. Door missing surround but doorway covered by segmented, plank-centred vault. Blocked wall-press at S end of E wall. Two stoup and font stones lie on ground inside door. Church of Myross in repair in 1615 but in ruins by 1699 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 536). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
