Myles Dillon

Myles Dillon was born in Dublin in 1900, the eldest of six children in a household where his father John Dillon and mother Elizabeth Dillon moved through public life and writing. He later taught Celtic studies across Europe and America before returning to direct the School of Celtic Studies at Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies. His books brought Old Irish kings, laws and myths into modern English, while his posthumous work compared Celtic and Indian heredities. He died in Monkstown in 1972 and was buried in Glasnevin, leaving behind a marriage, five children and a body of writing that still shapes how people imagine the ancient Celtic world.
