Muckrach Castle is a 1598 tower house near Dulnain Bridge, built by Patrick Grant for the Grants of Rothiemurchus. Timber is hidden inside the stone walls because forest builders trusted wood more than stone. The roof vanished in 1739, leaving only walls until Ian Begg restored the castle in 1985. It is still a home, not a display cabinet, and the grants line continues through the stones.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Muckrach Castle as Lime Kiln (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
