Moyree Castle stands in ruins within Castlequarter, a tower house reduced to ghosts and gaps. It is the kind of place where certainty stops and imagination begins, not the kind where facts pile up like coins.

Moyree Castle was built in the late 15th or early 16th century by the MacNamara lords of Clann Aodh Ruadh, a prominent Gaelic family in Clare. It is remembered as a significant example of a late medieval tower house and as the site of a major historical event, the 1565 battle where the castle was attacked by the O'Briens of Iomaire.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
