Attached three-bay two-storey house, extant 1838, on an L-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey flat-roofed projecting porch to ground floor; two-bay two-storey side (north) elevation. Reroofed. Now in alternative use. Replacement pitched and hipped fibre-cement slate roof on an L-shaped plan with clay or terracotta ridge tiles, rendered chimneys stacks having stepped capping supporting yellow terracotta tapered pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered cut-limestone eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Rendered, ruled and lined walls with rusticate rendered quoins to corners. Hipped segmental-headed central door opening with timber mullions on threshold supporting timber transom, and moulded surround framing replacement timber panelled door having sidelights below overlight. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and moulded surrounds framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Street fronted on a corner site with looped wrought iron railings to perimeter centred on looped wrought iron gate.
A house representing an integral component of the domestic built heritage of Westport with the architectural value of the composition suggested by such attributes as the compact plan form centred on a Classically-detailed porch; and the somewhat disproportionate bias of solid to void in the massing compounded by the uniform or near-uniform proportions of the openings on each floor. Having been well maintained, the elementary form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the historic or original fabric, both to the exterior and to the interior, thus upholding the character or integrity of a house making a pleasing visual statement in Distillery Road.
