Mounie Castle is a plain harled lairds house built circa 1641 by Robert Farquhar, Provost of Aberdeen. It later became the Last Seton Castle for George Seton, keeping a circular stair tower and crow-stepped gables that still mark its northern alignment. The nearby garden house began as a 1694 dovecot before taking on a newer domestic role.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Mounie Castle as Lairds House (17th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
