MOUND & URN BURIAL (destroyed) in Carneatly

MOUND & URN BURIAL (destroyed)

What is recorded here

Bronze Age hands shaped a mound and placed an urn inside before the world forgot the name of the dead. Carneatly kept that chamber hidden until human tools took it back. Destruction does not erase the act of burying; it returns the clay, bone and patience to the ground they came from.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MOUND & URN BURIAL (destroyed). Recorded period: BRONZE AGE; PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Bronze Age urn burial mound, likely dating to the earlier part of the Bronze Age (c. 2000–1500 BCE). Its significance lies in providing evidence of funerary practices and burial rites in prehistoric Northern Ireland, though its destruction limits further study.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
