Mound in Park OR Dunamase

Mound

What is recorded here

Dunamase still holds a small stone chamber where an urn and unburnt bones appeared, tying the mound to human memory rather than empty earth. The chamber may have marked a loved one, a leader or a warning about death itself. Whatever it meant, the stones kept that meaning long after the names were lost.
An urn and unburnt bones were discovered in a small stone chamber (LA013-106) in a rath or tumulus (Wilde 1850, 231; PRIA 1847-50, 35; Waddell 1990, 104). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 17 December 2007
