What is recorded here
Half of a ringfort, eaten by farm walls. What remains is a curved earthen bank from north to southeast, guarding a long oblong mound inside. The fieldbanks cut through the south and west, reducing the fortress to a fragment. Yet the mound still stands nine metres long, one metre high, aligned north-south within the broken circle.
Situated to the W of KE020-017----, univallate rath KE020-015---- has been severely cut on the S to E side and S through W to NW side by fieldbanks. What survives is an earthen enclosing bank which runs from the N to E to SE, giving it an arc-shaped appearance.
In the interior, about 18m to the NW of KE020-015002-, lies the third oblong mound (KE020-015003-), the long axis of which runs roughly N-S; it is 3m wide x 9m long internally and c 1m high.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 670. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
