Castleskreen motte is a medieval castle built directly upon an Early Christian rath, proving that strength often comes from recycling older conviction rather than inventing new grandeur. The motte rose on the ancient mound while the bailey extended beside it, turning a sacred or communal landmark into a weaponised household.
