Kilwaughter Mote is a medieval motte in County Antrim, still standing as a scheduled archaeological site. Its earthwork may have been a watchtower, a boundary marker, or a local lord's stronghold. The shape survives even if the building is gone. A person climbing it would have seen the same land that shaped the decision to build there.
