Carneal holds a medieval motte where human hands raised earth into a vertical challenge. The mound still stands in County Antrim, marking a time when local power needed a visible warning. Its shape suggests fear, pride or both, because a tall earthwork forces every approaching person to acknowledge the boundary before crossing it.
