Motte and bailey earthworks stand in Crosskennan, County Antrim, dated to the MEDIEVAL period and protected as a scheduled monument. A tall soil mound and surrounding ditch mark the site, the kind of place where people watched roads, kept fire light and made decisions under open sky. Much of the wood and life has disappeared, but the shape still points to the hands that built it and the years it served.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MOTTE: CROSSKENNAN FORT. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
