MOTTE: BERGINNISS or BARGINNIS MOUNT in Ballymather Upper; Ballyutoag

MOTTE: BERGINNISS or BARGINNIS MOUNT

What is recorded here

Barginnis Mount rises in Ballymather Upper as a medieval motte, still scheduled and visible beneath the living land. Its name resists easy translation, but the earth remembers the shape of human ambition. A tower, camp or warning fire may have stood there before memory faded. The hill keeps what tongues forgot.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MOTTE: BERGINNISS or BARGINNIS MOUNT. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
