Harryville Motte rises in Ballykeel as a medieval earthwork, its shape preserving the sudden violence and temporary safety of twelfth and thirteenth century life. The mound may have supported a wooden tower while the surrounding bailey held kitchens, byres and frightened people during raids. Distance has turned that urgency into silence, but the soil still holds the weight of hands that built it and hearts that watched the road.
