Motte and bailey castle at Castle Green stands on the Malvern Hills as a scheduled monument, preserving the earthworks of a fortification that once watched the land below. The mound and surrounding ditch remain visible enough to imagine guards pacing the rim while ordinary people lived inside the bailey. Castle Green gives the place its name, but the castle itself has no surviving tower or hall to point at. What is left is shape, height and the suggestion that someone built a defensible home where the hill could be seen for miles.
