Mote

On NW extremity of a glacial ridge, on E outskirts of Dunmore town (GA017-002----): the Sinking River flows past to NE and the old fair green lies a short distance to NW. A small well-preserved mound, roughly circular in plan and conical in profile (D 6m, H c. 1.8m). Traces of a low linear bank and shallow fosse are visible running along the ridge summit to SE. According to Bradley and Dunne (1992, 70), this mound 'seems to be the remains of a barrow'. They also express the opinion that the linear bank may be part part of 'a hollow way leading up to it ... the north side ... formed by a scrap, the south by a bank'.
