Terraced two-bay two-storey house over raised basement, built c.1840, with two-storey shared rear return. Built as one of ten similar houses, now in commercial office use. M-profile roof, hipped to south of rear pitch, hidden behind parapet wall with cement coping. Two stepped brick chimneystacks to north party wall with terracotta pots. Rendered walls on painted granite plinth course above rendered basement with rusticated soldier quoins to north end and plain render vertical band to the south. Cement rendered walls to rear elevation and return. Square-headed window openings with plain surrounds, painted masonry sills and replacement uPVC windows, timber sliding sash windows to rear elevation and return. Round-headed door opening with moulded surround and painted masonry Doric doorcase. Replacement timber door flanked by engaged Doric columns with replacement capitals and replacement lintel cornice surmounted by original peacock fanlight with stained glass. Door opens onto shared granite platform, three granite steps, further granite platform with cast-iron coal hole cover and further step to street. Platform and front garden enclosed by decorative wrought and cast-iron railings on painted granite plinth course. Rear parking area enclosed by tall rendered walls.

Originally a coastal route known as ‘The Strand’, this street was renamed after Viscount Amiens the first Earl of Aldborough of Aldborough House. This house forms part of a terrace of ten paired two-storey houses, abutted to either end by modern masonry buildings on the west side of Amiens Street. Built as a modest townhouse, the building is now in office use but retains its early domestic appearance on a street that has had some intensively developed commercial sites that obscure the original residential nineteenth-century character of the street.
