Monument to Battle of Wakefield to East of Manygates School

Listed building

What is recorded here

The National Heritage List for England records Monument to Battle of Wakefield to East of Manygates School as a listed building at Grade II. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The Battle of Wakefield was fought in 1460 between the forces of the Yorkist Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, and the Lancastrian army loyal to King Henry VI during the Wars of the Roses. The Yorkists won a decisive victory, killing Richard of York’s rival, Edward, Duke of Somerset, which temporarily strengthened Yorkist claims but also intensified the conflict.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
