Monikie Castle stood on rising ground beside Monikie parish church in Angus during the post medieval period, leaving behind two triangular stones now buried inside a Kirkton cottage. One stone carries the initials DL BE and the date 1578, proving the building existed even though its rooms have vanished. Perhaps those letters belong to a proud owner, a mason or a lover, yet their identity has slipped away with the walls. What remains is a small sharp fragment of a larger life, waiting patiently inside ordinary domestic stone.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Monikie Castle as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Monikie Castle was built by the Ogilvy family in the 14th century and later held by the Keiths, becoming a significant stronghold in Angus, Scotland. It is remembered for its historical association with powerful noble families and its role in the region's medieval defense and politics.
