What is recorded here

No castle is visible, which is the point. The hill keeps the shape of a castle while withholding the stones, forcing every watcher to complete the building with memory instead of fact. That is a generous trick. It gives back more life than a dead ruin would give.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Hill as Castle (medieval)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
