The Lade in Ballywallon is a modified watercourse, millrace, and leat recorded from the late medieval and post-medieval periods. It is the kind of place where human hands bent a living river into a useful line, perhaps driving a mill or marking a boundary before the valley forgot the purpose. The water still moves through a shape that people made, carrying the forgotten labor of every season it measured.
