Moated site in Knocknoran

Located on a low-lying, level landscape. This is an eroded rectangular and grass-covered area (dims 27m E-W; 26m N-S) defined by a slight earthen bank (Wth 1.5m; H c. 0.3m) at N with slight traces of fosses or moats at N (Wth 7m) and W (Wth 8m) and a NE-SW farm roadway at S. It is known locally as the rath field, and is thought to be the site of Ballyharty castle (WX052-024----). It may be a moated site.
