What is recorded here
In pasture, at the base of a gentle slope and c. 50m W of a graveyard (SL047-083002-). A rectangular area (31.5m NW-SE; c. 20m NE-SW) defined on the SE, SW and NW sides by a bank (Wth 2.4m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.5m) with an external fosse evident as a slight depression marked by rushes. The enclosing element on the NE side is now indistinct though a band of rushes may indicate a silted-up fosse. The interior is raised on the W side to create a dry level area. The moated site is within a field system (SL047-083004-).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
