Moated site

What is recorded here

Located at the bottom of the N-facing slope of NE-SW ridge of Forth Mountain. It is described by Barry (1977, 218, WX 43) as a raised platform with a wet moat (Wth 3.5m; D 1.5m). It has been removed since 1977, and is not visible at ground level in a scrub-covered area. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload/revision: 13 December, 2012

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
