Moated site in Coole (maryborough West By.)

Situated in a slightly elevated position surrounded by a low-lying area. A subrectangular area (dims c. 50m E-W) defined by a bank (Wth c. 3-5m, ext. H c. 1.2m). No evidence of fosse or original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P.
