Moated site in Ballylane West

Marked as a subrectangular wooded feature (dims. c. 50m NE-SW; c. 50m NW-SE) on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as an oval enclosure (dims. c. 35m NW-SE; c. 30m NE-SW) on the 1924 ed. It is located at the lowest point of a wet N-S valley-bottom. It is not visible at ground level in reclaimed pasture, but it may have been moated site or a marl-hole. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
