What is recorded here
Unlocated mill known as ‘Mountagh Mill’ which was ‘recorded in 1619, but was probably a good deal older. It was formerly worked by the Killiskey river, which joins the Vartry here; the course of the Vartry has been altered by removing bends in the river’ (Price 1967, 478). Price (1967, 478) recorded that ‘the mill at Mointagh was at the place where the old main road to Rathnew and Wicklow crossed the Vartry, before the bridge at Newrath was built in the seventeenth century’.
