What is recorded here

A mill is indicated on the W bank of the Finnihy River, to the N of an iron furnace, on the Down Survey barony map (1655-6) of Dunkerron. Its precise location is not known. The iron furnace is probably the ironworking site (KE093-125----) in the adjoining townland of Tubbrid. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
