An inquisition held at Wexford in 1296 recorded that William de Valence, earl of Pembroke, held by a knight’s fee a manor of Ballyregan, doing service to the Liberty of Wexford. The land was let out to various tenants, but the mill was worth 26 shillings and 8 pence (Cal. Doc. Ire, No. 306; 143-4). Ballyregan was part of the manor of Ballymore in 1325, but the mill is not mentioned again (Hore 1920, 67). No mill is marked on the 1839 or 1940 eds of the OS 6-inch map at Ballyregan, and the precise location of this mill is not known. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 6 January, 2014
