Midden in Lios Na Caolbhuí

Midden

What is recorded here

A possible shell midden located directly N of Brandon quay, on the W side of Brandon Bay. A small quantity of shell can be seen in the cliff-face, and there appears to be some charcoal associated with it. However, the position of the deposit high up in the cliff-face prevents a close examination. (information: A. McCarthy) The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 19. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 3 August 2013
