Metalworking site in Curraheen (trughanacmy By.)

The source of the information for this record is a reference entitled 'Recent Accessions from County Kerry at Cork University Museum' (Anon 1937) which mentions 'samples of Iron Slag, giving evidence of ancient iron working from Curraheen, Annagh Parish, presented by P.J. O'Sullivan, Tonevane, Tralee.' The area indicated was inspected but no surface trace of Iron Works or associated buildings were visible. No local knowledge of the site exists. (See field inspection report - diary CM18, 61-2, SMR file). Due to the uncertainity regarding this iron working site, the classification has been changed to 'iron works possible'.
