St Audeon's medieval parish church in County Dublin holds a two-metre stone for Robert Mapas of Dundalk, marking him across centuries. The false-relief shield, mantling, IHS and arrow still press against the darkness of the nave, turning a forgotten name into a visible wound in the church floor. Mapas may have fallen in battle, betrayed by a friend or simply died away from home; the stone refuses to explain, presenting his memory as an arrow suspended inside an oval, still pointing at whatever he refused to leave behind.

In the nave of St Audeon's medieval parish church (DU018-020075-) is a memorial stone commemorating Robert Mapas of Dundalk. It is a rectangular slab with decoration in false relief consisting of a shield surrounded by mantling with an IHS above and an oval enclosing an arrow ( L 2.84m, Wth 1.07m, T 0.12m).
