St Audeon's nave still holds the granite slab of Matthew Terrell, dead in 1619. His shield carries the motto Super est quod supra est, while the repaired upper edge suggests the stone itself survived some forgotten violence. Terrell may have been a merchant, a soldier or a local lord, but he chose to be remembered through Latin rather than pride.

In the nave of St Audeon's medieval parish church (DU018-020075-) is a memorial stone commemorating Matthew Terrell (d. 1619). It is a rectangular granite slab with upper part repaired. It is decorated in low false relief with a shield that contains the motto 'Super est quod supra est.'There is an inscription below the shield (H 2.00m, Wth 1.00m).
