St Dunstan's Well is associated with St Dunstan, a 10th-century English saint and Archbishop of Canterbury, venerated for his miracles and patronage of blacksmiths and metalworkers. Holy wells dedicated to him often feature traditions of healing and were sometimes used for ritual purification or as sites for making vows.
