MEGALITHIC TOMB (O.S. memoir site, unlocated) in Ballyeglish

MEGALITHIC TOMB (O.S. memoir site, unlocated)

What is recorded here

Megalthic tomb markers appear nowhere visible in Ballyeglish today, though human hands may have stacked heavy stone there before written history began. The land may have swallowed the chamber or people may have scattered the stones during field work, leaving only a forgotten shape beneath grass and rain. What is certain is that the area once held a burial place important enough to mark, and what is lost is the exact spot where the dead lay beneath the living world.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MEGALITHIC TOMB (O.S. memoir site, unlocated). Recorded period: PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
