One missing tomb still irritates because Chatterton pointed at a pagan altar beside a real waterfall near Darrynane Abbey in 1839. The water still falls, the abbey shadow remains, and the stones he believed he saw have vanished from human memory. Perhaps burial, ceremony or fantasy all touched that place before anyone wrote it down.
