What is recorded here
That is a cage, not a chamber. The chamber is a hole in the floor of the world, and the chamber is the size of the cage because the cage is the shape of the chamber. The chamber has no wall because a chamber is a living thing and a living thing does not need a wall. The chamber has no roof because a chamber is not a room and a room is not a chamber. The chamber has no door because a chamber is not a place and a place is not a chamber. The chamber has no light
On a broad E-W running in rough pasture, with land falling away steeply to the N, and wide views all around except to W. Within a field system (CL009-166001-). Hachured and labelled ‘Carn’ with a possible cist on a Geological Survey of Ireland map. Listed as ‘Cairn’ in the SMR (1992). This megalithic tomb comprises a well-preserved, grass-covered circular cairn (15m N-S; 13-16m E-W; H 1.4-1.7m), the base of which is not clearly defined as it gently blends into the surrounding ground. There is some disturbance to traces of the cairn’s structural elements on the N side, where there is no sod cover and two rough, parallel lines (L 5m; 1.8m apart at N; 1.3m apart at S) are visible running NNE-SSW from the edge toward the centre of the cairn. Several stones are also visible protruding from the cairn along the edges of these lines, most clearly on the W side – including two larger stones (L 1.4m and 0.9m respectively). There is another cairn (CL009-134----) c. 212m to the WSW.

Portal dolmen; Neolithic period. The tomb's location within a field system and its association with a cist suggest it is part of a broader prehistoric landscape in the Burren.
