MEGALITHIC TOMB: GIANT'S GRAVE in Carmoney

MEGALITHIC TOMB: GIANT'S GRAVE

What is recorded here

Carmoney’s Giant’s Grave still lies hidden beneath the soil, not forgotten but waiting to be found. People have built and buried above it for centuries, believing they understood the land while the dead giant waited beneath their feet. The mound may have vanished under roads, gardens or prayer, yet the name remains because the earth remembers what human arrogance forgets.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MEGALITHIC TOMB: GIANT'S GRAVE. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Megalithic tomb, dating to the Neolithic period. It is part of a tradition of prehistoric funerary monuments associated with early farming communities in Ireland.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
