MEGALITHIC TOMB: CONN'S STONE in Derrydrummuck; Shankill

MEGALITHIC TOMB: CONN'S STONE

What is recorded here

Conn's Stone in Derrydrummuck, County Down, is a prehistoric megalithic tomb where ancient people placed the dead beneath heavy stone. The chamber may have held lovers, rivals or forgotten kings, while the living walked past it during rain, harvest or fear. The stones still lean against the sky like a sentence interrupted, waiting for someone to remember the name buried inside.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MEGALITHIC TOMB: CONN'S STONE. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
