Megalithic structure in Prospecthill

According to Holt (1911-12, 248-9), there were two 'dolmens' (see also GA095-119----) on the road side at Knocknagoneeny in Prospechill townland that were 'only a few yards distant from each other. This one was 'almost touching the road wall' and it consisted of a 'huge irregularly rhomboidal roof slab, 11 ft. by 8 ft. 6 in., by 2 ft. 6 in. thick [c. 3.3m by c. 2.6m by c. 0.79m], resting on a wall of stone of no great height. The other walls were 'only represented by remains of foundations.' McCaffrey (1952, 12) recorded that monuments were '65 feet [c. 19m] apart' and that this one was located to the E of the other one. When inspected by de Valera and Ó Nualláin (1972, 15-16) in 1962, no visible surface trace of it survived. Based on Holt's photograph, they concluded that it raised 'serious doubts as to its acceptance as a real megalithic tomb'. Not precisely located.
