What is recorded here

Baliconyngham in Coniamstown marked a medieval church and leper hospital, putting sacred worship and dangerous exclusion on one estate. The name preserves the union of worship and quarantine, while the lost building disappears under ordinary ground. A person may have prayed at dawn, then walked across an open yard to sit with those their neighbours would not touch. The church gave the hospital a voice, and the hospital gave the church a brutal clarity about mercy.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MEDIEVAL CHURCH & LEPER HOSPITAL (site of): BALICONYNGHAM. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
