Matthew Lyon

Matthew Lyon was born in County Wicklow in 1749, but he attended school in County Dublin, where a young boy may have first imagined the width of the world before leaving it. That distance between birth and learning gives the place a strange openness: Dublin did not create him, yet it shaped the mind that later crossed an ocean, entered American politics and refused to be silenced.
