Martin Fay

Cabra in County Dublin gave birth to Martin Fay on 19 September 1936 and later received him back in death at age seventy-six. He carried that local marrow into The Chieftains as a founding fiddler and bones player in 1962, helping shape a sound that travelled far beyond the neighbourhood. The place did not merely appear in his history; it supplied the rhythm, memory and human warmth that made the music recognizable.
