Mark Yeates was born in Tallaght, County Dublin, on 11 January 1985, the southern edge of the city where he later played schoolboy football for Greenhills Boys and Cherry Orchard before leaving for Tottenham Hotspur. That ordinary beginning concealed an unusual life: a gifted young winger repeatedly loaned out, dismissed, restored and made useful elsewhere, until he became a coach rather than a legend. Tallaght does not need to claim greatness; it gave birth to a man whose whole career was learning that identity must keep moving before it can be known.
